  • Chief Tim Smith

    Chief Smith has been with the department since 1984. He was promoted to Fire Chief in January of 2005. Prior to becoming Chief he served as the department’s Assistant Chief for 4 years. He was a volunteer with the department before becoming one of the first full-time members hired in 1988. Chief Smith attended fire school in Murfreesboro in 1988, he is a TEMA Hazardous Material Technician, Emergency Medical Responder, and certified Fire Investigator. Chief Smith attends Tennessee Fire Chief Conventions annually. Chief Smith is responsible for the overall fire department budget and enforcing fire department standard operating guidelines. He works Monday thru Friday 8am-4pm. Chief was born and raised in Mount Pleasant and has dedicated his adult life to the Mount Pleasant Fire Department.

  • Assistant Chief Phillip Grooms

    Assistant Chief Grooms has been with the department since 2013. He was promoted to Assistant Fire Chief in July of 2014. Prior to becoming Assistant Chief he served as the departments training officer for 1 year.

    Assistant Chief Grooms holds an Associates of Fire Science and Bachelors in Fire Administration from Columbia Southern University he is certified by the Tennessee Firefighting Commission Firefighter I and II, Public Fire & Life Safety Educator Pump Apparatus Operator, Fire Instructor I and II, Fire Officer I, II and III .Health and Safety Officer, Safety Compliance Officer I, TEMA Hazardous Materials Technician, Advanced Emergency Medical Technician, and Fire Inspector, as well as, a certified CPR instructor.     Prior to becoming a member with Mount Pleasant Fire Department Assistant Chief Grooms served 8 years with the Columbia Fire Department.

    Assistant Chief Grooms is responsible with assisting the Fire Chief with budgeting, revising standard operating procedures, and the department’s over-all training and fire code enforcement programs.

  • Captain Michael Gaddes

    Captain Gaddes has been with the department since 1994. Captain Gaddes was promoted to Captain in 2005 he is currently the Captain over A- shift and currently oversees all daily operations of Station #2. Captain Gaddes is a certified Firefighter I and II, Pump Driver Operator, Fire Instructor I, Fire Officer 1, and Advanced Emergency Medical Technician. Capt. Gaddes is also responsible for emergency medical training for the department and is a certified CPR instructor.

  • Captain Gilbert Marshall

    Captain Marshall has been with the department since 1996. Captain Marshall was promoted to Captain in 2006 he is currently over C- shift and oversees the daily activities. Captain Marshall is certified Firefighter I and II, Pump Driver Operator, Instructor I, Fire Officer I and II, and Emergency Medical Responder. Captain Marshall is responsible for all purchasing for daily operating supplies.

  • Captain Todd Stewart

    Captain Stewart has been with the department since 2007. Captain Stewart was promoted to Captain in 2013 he is currently over B- shift and oversees the daily activities. Captain Stewart is certified Firefighter I and II, Pump Driver Operator, Instructor I, Fire Officer I, TARS extrication and EVOC instructor, and is Emergency Medical Responder. Captain Stewart is responsible for emergency driving program, vehicle extrication training, and the department’s respiratory protection program. Captain Stewart also serves as Captain for Ethridge Volunteer Fire Department.

  • Engineer Charles Thomason

    Engineer Thomason has been with the department since 1998. Charles is certified Firefighter I and II, Pump Driver Operator, Instructor I, Fire Officer I, and Emergency Medical Responder. He is assigned to A- shift and is responsible for the department’s fire engines for C- shift.

  • Engineer Phillip Counts

    Engineer Counts has been with the department since 2005. Phillip is certified Firefighter I and II, Pump Driver Operator, Instructor I, Fire Officer I, and Emergency Medical Responder. Engineer Counts is a certified Fire Investigator with the Tennessee Firefighting Commission, as well as, International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI-FIT) Fire Investigation Technician. He is assigned to A-Shift.

  • Engineer Brent Cockrell

    Engineer Cockrell has been with the department since 2012. Brent is certified Firefighter I and II, Pump Driver Operator, Instructor I, and Emergency Medical Responder. He is assigned to C- shift. Brent is also a certified auto mechanic and oversees maintenance for all fire department equipment.

  • Firefighter Rodney Howell

    Firefighter Howell has been with the department since July of 2014. Rodney is certified Firefighter I and II, Pump Driver Operator, Instructor I, Fire Officer I, and is Advanced Emergency Medical Technician. Additionally, he is a certified Fire Investigator.  He is assigned to B- shift.

  • Firefighter Jason Andrews

    Firefighter Andrews Has been with the department since July 2014. Jason is certified Firefighter I and II, Instructor I & II, Fire Officer I, Emergency Medical Responder, and Public Fire & Life Safety Educator. He is responsible for fire and safety education to the local schools and citizens.  He is assigned to B- shift.

  • Firefighter Jimmy Chatman

    Firefighter Chatman has been with the department since October of 2014. Jimmy is certified Firefighter I and II, Pump Driver Operator, Instructor I, and Fire Officer I, He is assigned to A- shift.

  • Firefighter Ben Willard

    Firefighter Willard has been with the department since July, 2015. Ben is certified bt the Tennessee Firefighting Commission Firefighter I & II, Pump Apparatus Operator, Instructor I, and Fire Officer I. Ben is assigned to A-Shift.

  • Firefighter Deon Hardison

    Firefighter Hardison was hired in October 2015. FF Hardison is in the process of becoming a certified Firefighter by the Tennessee Firefighting Commission. He is a licensed Emergency Medical Responder and is assigned to C-Shift.

  • Firefighter Josh Kelley

    Firefighter Kelley was hired in February, 2016 and is the newest fulltime member. Josh is certified by the Tennessee Firefighting Commission Firefighter I and is in the process of obtaining the Firefighter II certification. Additionally, he is a licensee Advanced Emergency Medical Technician.  He is assigned to B-Shift.
